Healthcare facilities make nature part of healing process

Nature is a proven healing element, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

Spending time outdoors tends to reduce stress and anxiety, leading to a soothed mind that creates a better foundation for physical and mental healing, the article said.

A study showed patients had lower blood pressure, pulse rates and cortisol levels after spending time in more natural surroundings.

Employees of medical organizations also can benefit from access to nature. Christ Hospital Joint & Spine Center, for instance, has rooftop gardens with meeting space for up to 100 people.
