Building a purposeful assisted-living environment

An abundance of natural light, the use of natural material and feeling safe and secure are key to a well-designed assisted living environment, according to an article on The Center of Health Design website.

"If you incorporate those elements, you’re going to be successful in creating an environment that is utilized by residents," said Kelley Hoffman, partner at RDG Planning & Design.

Senior-friendly furnishings with commercial durability continue to enter the growing market, offering more options.

The residential and hospitality markets are also strong influencers for the senior housing market, Hoffman said.
