2017's biggest healthcare cyberattacks listed

An article on the Becker's Hospital Review website listed the 11 biggest cyberattacks of 2017. The U.S. healthcare sector experienced roughly 336 data breaches as of Nov. 29.

The 2017 cyberattacks represent 28 percent of the total 1,202 breaches. 

The largest breach affected the names and personal data of nearly 1 million people throughout Washington state when a backup hard drive was stolen from Washington State University's Social and Economic Sciences Research Center.

The second happened when a former developer at HealthNow Networks uploaded an unencrypted backup database to a virtual server on Amazon Web Services, affecting 918,000 records.
