Healthcare's big-box future

Recent Health Facility Management survey says 43 percent of respondents plan to build expanded health system-branded clinics in retail spaces

A 2014 Health Facility Management survey reported 43 percent of respondents plan to build expanded health system-branded clinics in retail spaces, according to a blog on the Health Forum website.

According to the Health Facility Management article, patients are acting like consumers in terms of shopping around for their healthcare.

"Being able to see a doctor when and where you want is part of this new consumer-driven healthcare delivery, and hospitals that can figure out the right blend of outpatient and inpatient services set themselves up well for the future," the blog said.

According to the blog, these changes will be at the top of the list for healthcare designers and leaders in the next five years and beyond.
