Seven companies have won spots on a potential eight-year, $1 billion contract managed by Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) to build, fix or renovate government-owned medical treatment facilities across seven U.S. states. Projects will include hospitals, dental and medical clinics, ambulatory care centers and research laboratories, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
NAVFAC received 14 proposals for the indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract via a competitive solicitation process. The awardees are DPR-RQ Construction, Gilbane Federal Joint Venture, Hensel Phelps Construction, Kiewit Building Group, StructSure Projects, The Robins & Morton Group and Walsh Construction Group. Each of them will receive a minimum contract guarantee of $5,000. The rest of the funding will be decided based on individual delivery orders.
Work locations are California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.
IDIQ contracts provide for an indefinite quantity of services for a fixed time. They are used when the General Services Administration cannot determine above a specified minimum the precise quantities of supplies or services that the government will require during the contract period.
