12 Florida nursing home patient deaths ruled homicides

Patients died from environmental heat exposure after Hurricane Irma knocked out the power to the central air conditioning


The deaths of 12 Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills patients have been ruled homicides, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.

Hurricane Irma knocked out the power to the Broward County, Fla., healthcare facility's central air conditioning.

Police say it is possible that individual people could be charged in the homicides, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

The 152-bed facility is no longer in operation and state regulators have pushed to revoke its license – a move that is being fought by the facility.
