2017 has seen at least $500 million in hospital expansions, renovations so far, according to an article on the Becker's Hospital Review.

So far this year, nine hospitals and health systems have announced facility plans.

The bigger projects include: 

• A $1.5B patient tower by the University of Pennsylvania Health System 

• N.J.-based Virtua Health received approval from a state health planning board to plan a $1 billion hospital complex in Westampton
