5 hospitals go from Leapfrog 'Fs' to 'A's'

Improvement was also seen in Maryland and Washington, D.C. metro area


Five acute care hospitals that recently received an "A" safety grade rating from The Leapfrog Group previously received "F" ratings, according to an article on the Becker's Clinical Leadership & Infection Control website.

Improvement was also seen in Maryland and Washington, D.C., metro area. Maryland, which received Safety Grades for the first time in fall 2017, moved out of the bottom five in Leapfrog’s bi-annual state rankings analysis, with three “A” hospitals: Howard County General Hospital, Northwest Hospital and The Johns Hopkins Hospital. 

Also: 

• Forty-six hospitals achieved an "A" rating for the first time since the organization began ranking hospitals six years ago

• Eighty-nine hospitals that received an "A" rating this spring held "D" or "F" ratings in the past
