AHR Expo Donates $20,700 to the Chicago Lighthouse through Innovation Awards Program

The AHR Expo, the world’s largest HVACR event being held in Chicago in January, is giving back to the Chicago community with a donation of $20,700 from its Innovation Awards program to the Chicago Lighthouse.

Each year, the AHR Expo donates the entry fees from the Innovation Awards competition to a charitable organization within the region where the Show is being held.

For 2018, the AHR Expo has chosen to donate the funds to the Chicago Lighthouse, a non-profit organization serving the blind, visually impaired, disabled and Veteran communities with comprehensive vision care and support services. Founded in 1906, the Lighthouse has pioneered a range of programs for over 110 years to help its clients lead richer, more independent lives.

“We are delighted to have been named the recipient of this generous donation from the AHR Expo,” said Dr. Janet Szlyk, Lighthouse President and CEO. “We extend our deepest appreciation and also want to thank our good friend, Lion Chris Coleman of the Enterprise Air Conditioning and Heating Company, for bringing this outstanding opportunity to our attention. We look forward to using the funds to help update the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in our 60-plus-year-old headquarters building in Chicago.” Dr. Szlyk added that these improvements will enable the Lighthouse to provide maximum comfort for its program participants and staff members.

The Chicago Lighthouse serves more than 67,000 people each year and provides many direct program services to clients throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

“Every year we hold the AHR Expo in a different city and are welcomed warmly by the community. We are pleased to be able to give something back through providing a donation to a local organization,” said Clay Stevens, manager of the AHR Expo. “We are thrilled to be able to donate the entry fees from our Innovation Awards competition to the Chicago Lighthouse, which provides invaluable services to so many members of the Chicago community.”
