Through designing and modeling, eight teams in the ASHRAE LowDown Showdown Modeling Challenge worked to get a healthcare facility to net zero or below, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.
The teams used available software to create their models for the baseline building, a 50,000-square-foot, three-story outpatient healthcare facility in Omaha, Neb.
The building was particularly challenging because of its 24-hour-a-day operation and plug loads.
