Armstrong Ceilings Sustain Portfolio Now Included in Sustainable Minds Transparency Catalog

Armstrong® Ceiling Solutions, the global leader in ceiling systems, has partnered with Sustainable Minds® for inclusion in its SM Transparency Catalog. The effort is part of the manufacturer’s commitment to transparency by making it easy to identify ceilings that meet the most stringent environmental requirements with Health Product Declarations (HPDs), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Declare Labels. To date, the company is the first ceiling system manufacturer to participate in this valuable initiative.

Invaluable Tool for AEC Professionals

Found at www.transparencycatalog.com, the Sustainable Minds Transparency Catalog is the only cloud-based source that brings together all of a brand’s products with environmental and material disclosures, while providing easy-to-understand information about how to use these documents to earn credits in various green building rating systems, including LEED v4, Collaborative for High Performance Schools, Green Globes, the Well Building Standard, and the Living Building Challenge. This makes it an invaluable tool for AEC professionals to find products that meet the rigorous environmental and material reporting standards in the building industry. The catalog is free for building professionals who would otherwise spend hundreds of hours searching for products.

“We know that AEC professionals consider many attributes when selecting and specifying products,” notes Anita Snader, Sustainability Manager, Armstrong World Industries. “With the new drive for transparency in building products, the SM Transparency Catalog gives them exactly that – a place to connect product information with transparency information for the many different types of products they specify. We’re thrilled to add the Armstrong Ceilings SUSTAIN™ portfolio to the catalog.”

The SM Transparency Catalog is designed to drive change in the built environment by rewarding brands whose products credibly reduce impacts on the natural environment and human health. “People aren’t looking for disclosures — they’re looking for high performing products with disclosures,” said Terry Swack, CEO, Sustainable Minds. “Creating preference for brands and their products by educating the industry about what product transparency information means – will drive behavior change. For this reason, we are excited to help Armstrong products get specified.”

A founding member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Armstrong World Industries is committed to manufacturing quality products that are environmentally responsible. The recent introduction of the Sustain Portfolio represents the company’s commitment to providing a broad range of products that meet the industry’s most stringent sustainability standards.

“Armstrong Ceilings is committed to providing the best ceiling solutions available – the safest, the highest quality, the highest performing, and the most sustainable,” notes Vic Grizzle, CEO, Armstrong World Industries. “The very best in ceilings for people and our planet in how they’re made and how they perform. Our journey continues as we make a difference in where people live, work, learn, heal, and play.”

History of Sustainable Firsts

Armstrong Ceilings has a history of sustainable firsts, including introduction of the first ceiling industry recycling program, recycling over 200 million square feet of material since its inception over 18 years ago. The manufacturer continues with firsts, launching the Sustain portfolio, making it simple to find and specify ceiling products that have the environmental characteristics and documentation needed to comply with the leading green building rating systems, including LEED® v4, the Living Building Challenge℠, and the WELL Building Standard™.

All these products can be found in the SM Transparency Catalog and are designated in the Armstrong website with a Sustain logo. The SM Transparency Catalog is an easy way to find products free of chemicals of concern and all transparency documentation in one location.
