Armstrong introduces new commercial market-preferred hardwood options

Armstrong Commercial Flooring announces two new additions to its hardwood product lineup – Midtown® hardwood with rich grain patterns in a low gloss offering and Performance Plus™ hardwood in low and medium gloss options. These new products are perfect for designers who wish to create unique, distinctive commercial spaces.

Named for a city’s cultural heart, Midtown embodies the diverse style of a legendary cityscape. Midtown low gloss hardwood is a perfect choice for property management and multi-family housing such as military base quarters, as well as other commercial spaces in retail, education, healthcare, assisted living and hospitality.

Performance Plus hardwood withstands the punishment of day-to-day commercial environments. Only Armstrong offers liquid acrylic infusion for enhanced durability, which produces a floor that is up to two times harder than typical hardwood flooring. Performance Plus hardwood also features an aluminum oxide finish for added surface protection and resistance to scratches and stains. Rounding out the distinctive looks of Armstrong hardwood is the use of diverse species, including birch, cherry, hickory, maple, walnut and white oak.

Many designers seek the beauty of real wood and desire randomness in raw wood looks, which are less likely to show scratches, scuffs and indents. Armstrong answered the market with its new hardwood collections in multiple gloss finishes with colors and patterns that can also help camouflage everyday foot traffic in commercial spaces. “Since gloss level does not affect the durability or performance of a floor, with either a low or medium gloss finish you end up with a beautiful, highly desired natural wood look with the durable performance required for commercial environments,” says Armstrong Marketing Manager Patricia Fanty.

“At Armstrong, we take extra care to make sure the latest technologies and best techniques are used to enhance our designs,” says Fanty. “The level of gloss on a floor enriches the natural features of the wood species. Low gloss replicates the look of oil-rubbed hardwood, while medium gloss provides a subtle, reflective surface.” Additionally, the Performance Plus hardwood Custom Color Program provides customers with the option to match color schemes, while the Midtown Custom Hardwood Program offers the versatility to create a distinctive floor using a choice of nine species, multiple colors, textures, widths, thicknesses, and acoustical features.

Armstrong hardwood flooring can play a key role in keeping maintenance and labor costs down for facility owners and managers, while keeping revenue-generating spaces operational since it’s easy to install and maintain in commercial environments. Whether the hardwood has a full-fill or partial-fill finish, the factory applied coating systems increase wear-resistance above other traditional finish systems. These hardwoods are manufactured in the USA with over 95% domestic content.
