Leaders from AtlantiCare and Select Medical, along with team members and local officials, celebrated a major milestone in the construction of a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital by signing a ceremonial steel beam that will be placed inside the facility as it enters its next phase of development. The beam signing marks the first public milestone in a joint venture partnership between AtlantiCare, southeastern New Jersey’s largest health system, and Select Medical, one of the nation’s largest providers of post-acute care.

The two healthcare organizations are collaborating to build a 60-bed, all-private-room inpatient rehabilitation hospital, scheduled to open in mid-2026, one mile east of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus in Galloway Township. The facility will expand access to advanced, specialized care for patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputation, orthopedic trauma, neurological disorders and other complex medical conditions.

The three-story hospital will implement a coordinated, multidisciplinary care model. The care team will include physiatrists (physicians board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation), certified rehabilitation nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists, case managers, dietitians and other specialists supporting each patient’s recovery journey.

The new AtlantiCare Rehabilitation Hospital will be located at Bacharach Park, a name chosen to honor the legacy of the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation, which served the region with distinction for nearly a century.
