BOMI International Announces 2019 Scholarship Winners

BOMI International, the Independent Institute for Property and Facility Management Education, is proud to announce the winners of the 2019 J. Bradley Kennedy Scholarship Awards: Soraida Bellamy of Stonehenge Management, Shaun Laurel of CBRE, and Megin Murray of Weston Inc.

Established in 2011, BOMI International created a scholarship in memory of the late J. Bradley Kennedy, who served on BOMI International’s Board of Trustees for 17 years, resulting in his appointment as Chairman Emeritus. Kennedy’s long career culminated in serving as property manager for The White House. The scholarship honors Kennedy’s focus on excellence, as well as his lifelong commitment to continued professional education

“Brad’s generous contributions enabled BOMI International to enhance program content to reflect current industry trends and best practices. We established this scholarship so that future generations of property and facility management professionals will be aware of his dedication and enormous contributions to BOMI International and its vision,” said Jeffrey A. Horn, BOMI International’s president and CEO.

Funded through contributions from friends and colleagues, the scholarship provides an educational opportunity for a deserving individual who is currently entering, pursuing, or engaged in a career in the property or facility management industries who demonstrates a financial need.

“Each year, an independent committee made up of the BOMI International Board of Trustees Competency Committee reviews and ranks all applications based on a weighted scale across several categories,” stated Holly Bentley, CPLP, BOMI International’s chief learning officer. “The caliber of applications this year was outstanding. We’re very proud of the three recipients of the scholarship this year and thrilled to be able to offer support for their continued personal and professional growth with the CRE industry.

The annual scholarship application is posted every January and submissions are accepted until April 8th of that year. Selected recipient(s) are notified in June and are able to use their scholarship the following month.
