Behavioral health facility renovation designed for flexibility

Grand Rapids facility adds beds, renovates admissions area

A renovation of Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, Mich., was designed for flexibility, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The flex design allows the unit to split into two sides, creating immediate access for two patient populations — adolescents and young adults.

A 35,000-square-foot expansion combined flexibility with a secure environment.

The expansion added 26 beds to Pine Rest’s young adult building and a new contact center that serves as the admissions department.
