A power blackout at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, Australia, interrupted two surgeries and forced the postponement of others, according to an article on the Adelaide Now website.
As a precaution, non-urgent ambulance arrivals were diverted to two other facilities and 13 elective surgeries were postponed.
A hospital spokesperson said an electrical problem triggered a backup generator.
“A backup generator did not start due to a failure of a solenoid feeding diesel to a generator,” he said. “That solenoid has now been replaced, the unit has been tested under full load and it is now back to normal.”
