Body camera video released in N.M. hospital shooting

Since the shooting the hospital has considered changing its policies on the use of restraint for patients in police custody


The body camera video released of an officer-involved shooting of a man in police custody that attempted to escape from a New Mexico hospital, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.

The man had just been taken into police custody after allegedly crashing a stolen pickup truck into the front gates of a Farmington business. He was taken to the medical center to have his blood tested for drugs and alcohol.

The eight-minute video shows the officer realizing he is unable to handcuff the man to a wheelchair. 

Since the shooting the hospital and police department has considered changing its policies on the use of restraint for patients in police custody.
