Vancouver Coastal Health announced a 10-year plan to add more nursing home beds and upgrade older facilities, according to an article on the Vancouver Sun website.
The British Columbia health authority announced it will spend $40 million on the project and has signed agreements for six new and expanded residential care facilities.
The plan is the first stage in a longer-term plan that will see a significant number of the region’s residential care facilities rebuilt to today’s modern standard.
Under the new agreements, when the homes are upgraded, all of the 600 beds affected will be private with ensuite washrooms.
