No security turnstiles have been installed at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital nearly a year after a deadly mass shooting, according to an article on the ABC7 website. The shooter was a former disgruntled doctor who walked past security with his old employee badge and an AR-15.
In the weeks following the shooting, the hospital promised tougher security. But some of the security upgrades has not been implemented.
A memo sent in the weeks after the attack said turnstiles with badge swipe verification would be installed at main entrances in 10 to 12 weeks.
Eleven months after the shooting no turnstiles have been installed, nor are there any signs of pending installation.
A hospital spokesman said recent enhancements include new identification cards, additional cameras and safety training for employees. He said turnstiles will be installed by mid-June, adding they've been delayed because of "manufacturing problems and regulatory codes."
