Design and construction methods keep patients safe during and after project work


Builders and designers have an important role in patient safety, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

Construction process and choice of design and materials used in a facility can impact the frequency of adverse events, so builders and designers are heavily involved in the patient safety equation, the article said. 

Design and construction methods can keep patients safe during and after project work. An expanding knowledge base and new technology and products are available to help builders and especially designers protect patients.

One trend that benefits both patients and builders is the increased use of prefabrication for parts of the patient room or entire spaces within a facility.
