California hospital plans new L.A. tower

Tower will replace an aging facility that will be turned into an outpatient building to avoid a costly seismic retrofit

Dignity Health California Hospital Medical Center plans to build a new patient care tower near downtown Los Angeles, according to an article on the Los Angeles Business Journal website.

The tower will serve as the hub for a $215 million campus renovation.

It will replace an aging tower that will be turned into an outpatient building to avoid a costly seismic retrofit.

The tower – with 27 more beds than the current facility – will house larger, state-of-the-art emergency and trauma departments.

The top floor of the new tower will be reserved for further expansion.
