Canadian nurses union wants more security guards in hospitals

There have been more than 2,000 incidents last year


The New Brunswick Nurses Union wants to see more security guards in hospitals across the province, according to an article on the CBC website.

Paula Doucet, president of the union said many hospitals have just two security guards at night or throughout the day. Plus, the hospitals don't have lockdown protocols.

New Brunswick Nurses Union reports say there were more than 2,000 "code-whites" at hospitals in the province last year.  A code white is when a healthcare worker is under attack and all available security is called.

The numbers of attacks have almost doubled in the past five years.
