Connecticut hospital doubles size of emergency department

New Milford Hospital expansion includes a more efficient triage space, a centralized nursing station and private patient rooms


The New Milford Hospital in Connecticut has doubled the size of emergency department adding a more efficient triage space, a centralized nursing station and private patient rooms, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The $12 million, 11,000-square-foot project represents the largest expansion in the hospital's history.

The project features sustainable design, including abundant glass for natural daylight, an exterior made of natural stone and a highly durable metal panel system, low-flow plumbing fixtures and high-efficiency HVAC equipment, the article said.  

Other new features include specialty care rooms, and enhanced parking and vehicle circulation.
