Corbett Lighting's rockstar pendant wins 2014 Pinnacle Award

HIGH POINT, NC – Corbett Lighting has won a prestigious 2014 Pinnacle Award for its agate, jewelry inspired Rockstar 16-light pendant in the Lighting Category. Presented by the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD), the Pinnacle Awards were created in April 1995 by the ASFD board of directors to promote design quality and encourage the recognition of furniture designers within the retail home furnishings industry.

The Pinnacle Awards were announced at a special awards banquet that took place during High Point Market in High Point, North Carolina on October 20th. The Lighting award was presented by one of the judges, Peggy Burns of Circle Furniture and accepted by Jim Broughman, director of National Retail Accounts at Corbett Lighting. Broughman accepted the award on behalf of Steve Nadell, designer and president of Corbett Lighting. Rockstar was chosen by a special jury of 12 industry professionals and is based on certain criteria of design excellence including form and function, innovation, retailer and manufacturing benefit, and consumer benefit.

“We are honored to be recognized by the American Society of Furniture Designers,” says Steve Nadell, designer and president of Corbett Lighting. “Our design team always strives to think “outside the box” and push the envelope with creative designs in lighting, and we are thrilled to win this prestigious award. It’s also a great honor to have our pendant win in this very competitive Lighting category that encompasses not only the lighting industry but the entire furniture industry.”

More than 280 people attended the special Pinnacle Awards banquet, including ASFD members and finalists. Other award categories included Occasional Tables, Occasional Storage, Youth Furniture, Casual Dining, Formal Dining, Motion Upholstery, Stationary Upholstery, Leather Upholstery, Accessories, Home Office, Home Entertainment, Bedroom, Summer/Casual, Student Award and Green Leaf Award.

An anonymous judge’s comment said the following about the winning design: “Corbett Lighting offers a dramatic art form that the judges identified as ‘jewelry for the home.’ This show-stopping fixture is not for the faint of heart … it’s simply gorgeous!”

With an updated 1970s feel that’s totally down to earth, Rockstar steals the show in any space. Natural Brazilian agate slices in rich sunset hues hang in a tiered “V” pattern from a hand-crafted frame finished in gleaming gold leaf. Each stone is surrounded by a distinctive circular frame, highlighting that no two stones are exactly alike. Worthy of a standing ovation, the Rockstar collection includes six-, 10- and 16-light pendants in addition to sconces and a ceiling flush mount.
