Report calls pediatric environments 'incubators for hospital design innovation'


A new study says it is vital for healthcare architects to redefine the imagery of pediatric hospitals in ways that are both timeless and ageless, according to an article on the Building Design & Construction website.

In the "Designing for Children" report,  Shepley Bulfinch pediatric design experts described key design elements for pediatric hospitals. The include:

• Imagery, recognizable elements and nonthreatening spaces that reduce anxieties 

• Human- and child-scaled environments that create a sense of comfort and security while supporting treatment and healing
