Dallas hospital rehearses moving patients to new facility

Faux patients were moved across into the new Parkland Memorial Hospital

The new Parkland Memorial Hospital rehearsed move to new facility with faux patients, according to an article on the Dallas News website.

Volunteers took a ride in a wheelchair or bed across the sky bridge that connects the old and new hospitals. The journey was meant to simulate what will happen when the new facility opens on Aug. 20.

“The most important thing is to make sure we get every small detail as perfect as possible,” Gabriel Fruge, senior project manager of transformational initiatives, said in the article.

The actual move will transfer 500 to 700 Parkland patients and the nearly 8,000 pieces of medical equipment that need to go with them. The move is expected to take three days.
