Detroit health system to build $110 million cancer center

Henry Ford Health System plans center as part of a $500 million expansion of its campus

Detroit's Henry Ford Health System plans to build a $110 million cancer center as part of a $500 million expansion of its campus, according to an article on the Healthcare Finance website.

The 144,000-square-foot center will include a rooftop garden and feature a skyway walk that links to the Henry Ford Hospital next door.

"The facility will be modern in its technology and, most importantly, address the physical and emotional needs of our cancer patients by offering greater flexibility with their care, and expanded support services for the duration of their disease," system CEO John Popovich Jr. said.

All cancer-specific physicians will work on the same floor and the center will include on-site exercise and wellness programs, feature a cancer retail services center and will include several technology enhancements.
