Distech Controls first to introduce controllers designed to meet oil and gas industry standards

Distech Controls, an innovation leader in energy management solutions, today announced the availability of its LonMark® line of controllers developed to meet stringent standards for oil and gas industry applications. Originally designed for a leading Canadian integrated energy company, these LonMark certified controllers offer the industry the possibility to drive energy efficiency, reliability and safety across facilities.

This offer comes at a time where key players within the energy field are turning to standardization as a way to ensure consistent value from controls vendors, while simultaneously improving efficiency and safety in their facilities. In response, LonMark International created and adapted several profiles (Unit Heater, Wall Unit, Roof Top Unit, and AHU) and safety-focused sub-profiles (hardwired gas detection, fire alarm, recirculation, full ventilation, and safety instrumented system (SIS)).

Distech Controls is the first to develop products that comply with these profiles.  The company provides the unique value of fully programmable controllers, allowing for the customization of control and monitoring sequences according to specific equipment and facility requirements.  In addition, select models of the offering feature live graphics color display, for an integrated operator interface.

“We are very pleased to see how quickly Distech Controls was able to implement the new LonMark profiles for the oil and gas industry into its controllers,” said Barry Haaser, Executive Director, LonMark International. “The new products address a growing need in the oil and gas industry for interoperability standards allowing products from multiple suppliers to work together seamlessly in a common solution,” added Haaser.

“Our mission at Distech Controls has always been to deliver innovative products and leading solutions that empower businesses and individuals to achieve energy efficiency,” said Trevor Palmer, Vice President Products and Marketing at Distech Controls. “We are therefore thrilled to be in a position to help set the standard in the integrated energy field, empowering those in the industry with safer, more energy efficient facilities,” added Palmer.
