Door Hardware Targets Improved Functionality

ASSA ABLOY Architectural Door Accessories announces an optional soft close device for Pemko box track and flat track straight sliding door hardware. The new device is designed to bring the door to a quiet, smooth and controlled stop making it an excellent addition to higher-use sliding doors, especially where additional safety benefits are desired. Healthcare, senior and assisted living, multi-family residences, childcare facilities, as well as hospitality and corporate applications can benefit greatly from upgrading existing hardware or installing new systems with the optional soft close device.

The new soft close system is now available for the Pemko Builders Series (BLD) flat track sliding door hardware, as well as the Pemko H200, H180, SHS80, HBP200, and Side Wall Track (280_SWT) systems. The Side Wall Track system is offered with various fascia options, including an angled, radius and square design.

Both versions of the soft close device are easy-to-install in new or retrofit applications as a way to reduce bouncing or slamming of the sliding door that occurs naturally with forceful or heavy use. Furthermore, the soft close device reduces risk of pinch points and accidental closure on fingers.

“Soft close devices are incredibly beneficial sliding door options that improve performance and safety at the opening while extending the life of the door and hardware,” said Anne Baumann, Product Manager for Pemko Sliding Door Hardware, ASSA ABLOY. “Unlike most soft close devices, the Pemko system has a robust design, which has outperformed competitive products during our rigorous cycle testing for doors up to 176 pounds, and is proving to withstand the demands we see in the field. With over 70,000 cycles already achieved, it far exceeds the industry standards and is unmatched in performance and durability.”
