Emerson Network Power's Avtron Sigma 2 PC Software verifies test results and equipment commissioning, acceptance

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the world’s leading provider of critical infrastructure for information and communications technology systems, reports its Avtron® Sigma 2 Load Bank Control PC software provides comprehensive data logging, diagnostics, trending, and programming profiles for results verification, and power system commissioning and acceptance.

"These capabilities are valued by power equipment rental companies, independent testing agencies, manufacturers, gen-set dealers and anyone requiring a record of load bank testing," said Bob Daniel, vice president and general manager of Avtron Load Banks, for Emerson Network Power. Avtron products are an integral element of Emerson's spectrum of unified infrastructure solutions. They enable rapid deployment and scalability to help simplify and streamline the testing process.

The Avtron Sigma 2 Load Bank Control PC software is compatible with a range of Avtron Load Banks. It enables operators to run program profile tests either in large facilities with dispersed equipment, multiple test rooms or repetitive tests on factory floors from a single, remote control platform. In these applications, it optimizes power testing workflow, saves time and manpower, and generates reports for power equipment pass/fail performance, commissioning and acceptance.

Reports also can be used to verify compliance with such regulatory requirements as NFPA*  37, 70, 99, and 110, and Joint Commission**.

Manual or automatic load control and data capture and logging manage digitally processed measurements from the load banks' transient-speed, high-accuracy voltage and current transformers. Capture rates for voltage and frequency transient data, for example, are 25 readings per second. Analyzing transient data identifies voltage and frequency recovery times and maximum deviations.

High-speed sampling produces full, three-phase, true rms*** measurements with high update rates. Real-time, graphical screens update up to one second per division.

The Avtron Sigma 2 Load Bank Control PC software saves data, such as supply properties that include ratings, alternator, engine, customer, and additional notes, with active supply details, and prints the results in report format. It also prints transient, heat run and summary reports. Data can be networked to critical power management or building management systems for analysis.

The Avtron Sigma 2 PC software's automatic load control runs user-set load test routines that include load ramping, delay instructions, looping and data capture. Load modes provide power factor and either kVA, percent power, or current. Operators can verify programs by single-stepping each command. Adaptive and predictive load-correction modes apply the correct load even if voltage or frequency sags.

User-set 'watches' monitor instrumentation values, stop test programs and drop the load if required.

The Avtron Sigma 2 Load Bank Control PC software operates on an industry standard Pentium laptop, desktop or rack-mounted PC with Microsoft Windows (NT 4, 2000 or XP).
