Energy Focus Introduces Triac Dimmable Downlight LED Retrofit Solutions for Commercial Applications

Energy Focus, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies, has introduced a line of commercial triac dimmable LED downlights optimized for retrofit applications. Developed in cooperation with an international healthcare system headquartered in Northeast Ohio, the new downlights are designed for faster, more cost-effective installation, easier maintenance and high energy efficiency. They provide flicker-free illumination with lighting efficacy of 100 lumens per watt in a choice of three color temperatures for a variety of applications: 3500K, 4000K and 5000K.

The new triac dimmable LED downlight is ideal for retrofit applications because it allows faster, less labor-intensive installation, with no need to string new wiring. It’s designed for quick connections and disconnections and allows commercial lighting contractors to reuse the wiring and dimming switches that are already in place. Because this allows facility operators to reduce the labor and materials costs associated with a project, it’s far easier for them to cost justify replacing their lighting system. In addition to the triac dimming option, Energy Focus continues to offer a 0-10V dimming option, which allows high flexibility and easy installation in new construction applications.

According to Michael Somers, Energy Focus’s Vice President of Business Development, “By making it possible to repurpose existing wiring and switches rather than removing and discarding them, the triac dimming option helps organizations meet their long-term sustainability goals, while reducing their labor and materials costs for the project.”

The flicker-free performance and aesthetic appearance of the commercial dimmable downlights make them suitable for use in a wide range of applications including office buildings, hotels, K-12 and higher education, and retail environments in addition to healthcare settings.

In addition to the standard 6”, 8” and 10” sizes, the new dimmable downlight line includes a 12” lamp that’s unavailable from other suppliers, for a wider range of drop-in replacements. Together with the LED tubes and luminaires Energy Focus already offers, the commercial dimmable downlight line means Energy Focus is a one-stop supplier for a growing range of LED lighting solutions. By inventorying a safety stock of these lamps in its Solon warehouse, Energy Focus can ship to contractors far sooner than most suppliers, even to contractors who don’t supply a forecast of their requirements.
