Enhanced security at N.Y. hospital includes metal detectors in ED waiting room

Rochester General Hospital will also get additional officers

Rochester General Hospital plans to put at least one metal detector at the entrance to the emergency department waiting room as part of enhanced security, according to an article on the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle website.

The hospital's security team will get additional officers, who will have a presence in the emergency department and the rest of the hospital.

In October, RGH announced that the Rochester Police Department will have a workstation in the hospitals' security office, which is near the emergency department.

Rochester police will be able to meet with residents who call 911 but don't want an officer to come to their house, or police can use the office to file paperwork. It will not be staffed on a regular basis.
