"Essential Roofing Knowledge for Facility Managers," by Paul Farrier and Kenneth Brzozowski, PhD, is a book that is written for individuals who must deal with the maintenance and replacement of building roofs.   

The authors, who have a combined total of 86 years’ experience in all phases of the roofing industry, share their insights in this challenging field.  The knowledge provided helps the reader to make the right decisions that lead to optimum quality at the best economy.  

The book outlines the logical process of a roofing project from initial condition assessments to the most appropriate financial decision for the situation.  It includes selecting the best type of roof for the building, incorporating project specifications that assure that objectives are met, and assembling the proper project management.  It also suggests when to enlist assistance from a professional independent roofing consultant.  

An important section of the book is its emphasis on minimizing the variable costs which are prevalent on most roofing projects.  The proper specification of products, systems and accessories eliminates the use of high-priced products and unnecessary labor.  This, of course, minimizes cost and ensures a smooth-running project and safeguards the integrity of the entire application.
