Expansions boost Ohio region's hospital competition

Three area hospital systems realigned services to stay competitive in north central Ohio

Three area hospital systems are planning facility expansions and realigning services to stay competitive in north central Ohio, according to an article on the Mansfield News Journal website.

OhioHealth MedCentral, Avita Health System and Samaritan Health System all unveiled plans either to improve or build facilities or to affiliate with larger health care systems in 2015.

OhioHealth MedCentral opened a new $80 million building adjacent to the current Mansfield hospital complex Nov. 2, with new medical offices to house 30 physicians and an adjacent 240-space parking garage.

"Our whole concept was to make it so patients and their families don't have to travel," Brad Peffley, hospital vice president of clinical services, said in the article.
