Energy efficiency is often one of the easiest ways to improve a healthcare facility's bottom line, according to an article on the Healthcare Facilities Management website.

Some hospitals focus on a range of short- and long-term investments. For instance, Russell Regional, which now has an Energy Star rating of 100, invested in both low- and high-cost projects. 

The low-cost projects included replacing fluorescent lighting with energy-efficient T8 lamps. 

The more expensive projects included the chiller and boiler replacements.
