Florida Hospital Flagler facilities manager John Newman was named the 2015 Engineer of the Year by the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association for its District 2 that comprises Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando and Ocala, according to an article on the Daytona Beach News Journal website.
The award recognizes commitment and dedication to excellence, as well as proficiency and knowledge of the trade.
Newman oversees the overall operation of the hospital’s engineering and security departments.
He also serves as the hospital’s safety officer and is responsible for ensuring the hospital’s compliance to the guidelines for the National Fire Protection Agency, Agency for Healthcare Administration and Joint Commission Environmental of Care as well as emergency management and disaster preparedness.
