Georgia medical center plans $18 million renovation

Floyd Medical Center in Rome to upgrade and rearrangement of the coronary care and intensive care units


Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga., is planning a $18 million renovation to upgrade and rearrange the coronary care and intensive care units, according to an article on the Northwest Georgia News website.

Currently, Floyd has a 16-bed ICU and an eight-bed CCU. Plans call for the creation of a renovated 26-bed unit on the third floor of the hospital’s 1956 building. The fifth-floor space where the coronary care unit is currently located will be renovated to create an 11-bed chest-pain observation unit.

Several adjacent areas will be impacted and are being included in the renovation work. The hospital's primary kitchen will get an upgrade.

The neonatal intensive care unit also be renovated and the facility's main administrative suite also will get minor upgrades.
