German shepherd added to security team at Indiana hospital

Dog trained to sniff out bombs and firearms

Lakeland Health in St. Joseph, Ind., is adding a new team member to its security force and she loves tennis balls, according to an article on the WSBT website.

Inez, a German shepherd, is trained to sniff out bombs and firearms.

"Everybody that comes in contact with Inez, you just see an immediate glow on their face," said Rich Matthews, director of safety and security.

"Just having her here (helps). She doesn't have to do anything. Just sitting while folks are coming into the facility helps de-escalate in many cases violent tendencies," said Matthews.
