Sanford Health Fargo has broken ground on the Peltier Lodge, a temporary and long-term lodging facility for patients at the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center.
The Peltier Lodge, located at the site of the old Scandia Hotel, will be made possible entirely through philanthropy, featuring a transformational lead gift from philanthropist Norma Peltier. The 28,400-square-foot facility will feature spaces to support patients and loved ones during treatment and throughout their outpatient care and monitoring.
The Peltier Lodge will allow Roger Maris Cancer Center to expand the blood and bone marrow transplant program, with the potential to add more services to help more patients. Each day, an average of 54 Roger Maris Cancer Center patients need temporary and long-term lodging. As the blood and bone marrow transplant program continues to grow, it is anticipated that number will double in the coming years.
