Halyard Health Honors Recipients of the 2018 Josh Nahum Awards


 Halyard Health, a global medical technology company focused on preventing infection, eliminating pain and speeding recovery, announced the three recipients of the 2018 Josh Nahum Special Award for Achievement in Infection Prevention and Control. The award, now in its 11th year, is co-sponsored by the Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA), an affiliate of the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA), Halyard Health, and the Safe Care Campaign. Halyard Health presented the awards during a recognition ceremony at Reynolds Plantation in Lake Oconee, Ga. on Jan. 10, 2018.

WHAT: The PHA Quality and Patient Safety Award recognizes healthcare organizations for their achievements in implementing best practices to reduce the risk of medical errors and improve patient safety and quality. Victoria and Armando Nahum founded the Josh Nahum Award in 2007, in memory of their son who passed away from a healthcare-associated infection. 

WHO:  Recipients of the award demonstrate the highest standards in infection prevention and control, and are committed to educating patients and physicians on the dangers of HAIs and proper prevention methods.

First place: Redmond Regional Medical Center; Rome, Ga.
Program recognition: “A Systematic Approach to Reducing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections in a Community Based Hospital” 

Second place: WellStar Spalding Hospital; Griffin, Ga.
Program recognition: “Reducing Healthcare Facility – Onset C. difficile by Increasing Appropriate Testing”

Third place: Piedmont Newnan Hospital, Newnan, Ga.
Program recognition: “Clear 4 You Promise Package:  A Horizontal Approach to Preventing Infections”
