Health system's new security measures include badges, metal detectors

Atrium Health also plans to add more armed security officers


Atrium Health has announced new system-wide security measures that will include badges, metal detectors and more armed security officers, according to an article on the WCNC website.

All visitors will have to stop at the reception desk at every facility to check-in and get a name badge. 

Behavioral health facilities and the emergency department at Carolinas Medical Center will also get metal detectors.

Atrium also plans to reduce access points into facilities by 45 percent and add more armed security officers in the hopes of having one on every shift at many locations.
