Healthcare association offers review of EVS training programs

Educational institutions, consultants and healthcare organizations with their own in-house training can submit training and educational materials to the AHE for review to earn the Seal of Review and Recognition.

By Healthcare Facilities Today

In order to establish a quality standard for training within environmental services and related disciplines, the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) provides a formal review process for those seeking approval for a curriculum.

Educational institutions, consultants and healthcare organizations with their own in-house training can submit training and educational materials to the AHE for review to earn the Seal of Review and Recognition.

According to the AHE, the Seal of Review and Recognition will mark training that is “sound, reliable and adheres to best practices of the environmental services discipline.”

All training programs submitted for review will be vetted against the AHE Practice Guidance for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning as well as regulatory compliance guidelines from agencies such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration and others.

Here are the stated submission guidelines from the AHE:

The AHE Seal of Review and Recognition Program is limited to training and in-service activity content that meet the following criteria:
Advances the practice and operations of maintaining the healthcare environment
Establishes and promotes the safe use of equipment and/or products within non-clinical healthcare staff responsibilities
Conforms to the AHE Practice Guidance for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning (most recent edition), other published or posted AHE publications, or recommended practice documents
