Healthcare construction growth led by MOBs

Medical office building square footage expected to nearly double in 2016


Construction of new medical office building (MOB) is at the forefront of a year of growth for healthcare facilities, according to an article on the Health Facility Management website.

This follows a strong 2015 for the industry, according to Revista, Annapolis, Md., a source of data on healthcare property and construction.

A Revista report says there was  $97.1 billion in projects in the healthcare real estate construction pipeline by the end of 2015. 

That's a 12 percent increase from  midyear 2015.

The top state for healthcare construction is California with 13.6 million square feet.
