Healthcare workers protesting 32 hospitals in California

More than 55,000 Kaiser Permanente employees in California are members of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West

Thousands of healthcare workers are planning protests across California at 32 hospitals owned by Kaiser Permanente between Feb. 14 and March 9, according to an article on the SEIU website.

“President Trump and Congress have their hearts set on cutting Americans’ access to quality, affordable healthcare, and instead of standing up to defend their patients, Kaiser Permanente is following the federal government in a race to the bottom,” Georgette Bradford, an ultrasound technologist at Kaiser Sacramento, said in the article.

More than 55,000 Kaiser Permanente employees in California are members of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW). Their contract with Kaiser Permanente expires Sept. 30, 2018.

Meanwhile, thousands of Dignity Health caregivers are planning a separate series of 27 protests statewide between Feb. 20 and March 7.
