Helipad finished in Pennsylvania hospital's emergency department project

Completion of helipad marks first milestone for York Hospital's $50 million emergency department renovation

Completion of helipad marks the first milestone for the $50 million emergency department renovation project at York Hospital in York, Pa., according to an article on the York Daily Record website.

Construction will now move inside the building. Improvements include a new circle drive and lower-stress waiting area.

The approximately $50 million project started in August 2014 and should be completed in fall 2017. The current emergency department's capacity is 50,000 patients per year, but the current volume is 78,000 patients per year, the article said.

The new circle drive, with valet parking, was designed for a more comforting waiting area for patients.

There will be 50 private patient care rooms, including three dedicated pediatric rooms. The behavioral health unit will feature two interview rooms, eight bays and two quiet rooms.
