Hospice of the Western Reserve, a community-based nonprofit, has officially broke ground on its new Hospice Care & Community Center. Located on the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland's North Collinwood neighborhood, the facility on Lakeshore Boulevard is part of the organization's $18 million Quality of Life capital campaign.
The new care center will be built on lakefront property adjacent to the current Hospice House on East 185th Street, on land that Hospice of the Western Reserve already owns. It will replace the existing Hospice House, which has served Northern Ohio for nearly 30 years.
The new facility, which is expected to open in 2026, will feature 32 private patient rooms, each with a view of Lake Erie, enhanced family spaces and cutting-edge technology to support the increasing complexity of end-of-life care. The Community Center within the facility will also house bereavement support services and host activities for patients and families, providing a space for healing and connection.
