Hospital evacuates ER due to 'unpleasant odor' caused by blocked grease trap

A 'code yellow' — a disaster that requires an emergency and urgent response — was declared because the Royal Hobart was already operating at the highest stress load

The Royal Hobart Hospital evacuated its emergency department due to an "unpleasant odor" caused by blocked grease trap, according to an article on the ABC website.

Patients were moved to other areas of the hospital.

A representative from the Royal Hobart Hospital Staff Association said the level four escalation was making the code yellow difficult to deal with.
