Hundreds of Florida nursing homes and assisted living facilities that still don't have an approved power plan in place or the necessary equipment mandated by state law, according to an article on the Click Orlando website.
Some administrators say they had no choice but to file an extension because they are waiting for equipment to come in, permits to get approved and electricians to come.
“The challenge is to get the permit and the parts,” said Yolette Precil, the administrator at Golden Cove Assisted Living Center in Orlando.
“If there is one more hurricane, we will not be able to comply because all those generators will be going to where the needs are,” Precil said in the article. “We do not have all the parts in Central Florida. Everything was diverted to Puerto Rico and Texas.”
