When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the initial focus in many facilities was on surface sanitization and hand hygiene as strategies for controlling the spread of the coronavirus. Eventually, many organizations, including healthcare facilities, turned much of their attention to HVAC systems as the facility component of greatest interest in minimizing the spread of the infection.

Despite the reordering of priorities as COVID-19 cases surge, maintaining effective hygiene practices in healthcare facilities remains an essential measure in slowing the spread of disease, according to Becker’s Hospital Review
