Despite those challenges, hospitals can improve their cleaning and disinfecting compliance by implementing a disinfection program that includes a few key components, the article said.

The key components include defining clear roles and responsibilities with environmental services and nursing staffs and making the disinfectants accessible where they are most needed.

Follow up is also important. Hospitals should use blacklights or other products to ensure disinfection efficacy.
